The Pioneer Title “Good Deed Honor” publicly recognizes
Hampton Roads citizens for exceptional humanitarian, educational,
civic or other service to the community which is strictly voluntary
and without any remuneration. Nominations should include
full name, address and phone number of both the nominee and
nominator. The nominee must have two references who may
be contacted to verify the scope and extent of the nominee’s
activities. References should be persons familiar with
the community service activities for which the nomination has
been made and should not include the nominee or any persons
related to the nominee.
Your nomination should include a brief
essay that describes the nominee’s “good deed." Your
essay may want to address one or more questions, for example...
How many hours does the nominee volunteer per month?
Describe the need for the volunteer's service.
Did the nominee start a new program, use new methods to
solve problems, initiate activities, or promote collaboration
with other organizations? Explain.
Describe the impact the nominee's service made to the community.
You are encouraged but it is not necessary to interview
your nominee (or get a quotation from him or her on any thoughts
about volunteerism) to gain a deeper level of information
concerning the volunteer service, motivation, and any special
or unique challenges or circumstances.
Please limit your comments to 500 words or less.
Failure to complete or follow nomination
rules may result in disqualification. Recipients are chosen quarterly
and will be notified by phone and in writing. Recognition
of the honor is made on Public Radio Station 89.5 WHRV FM.
